Toucans are most well known for their brightly coloured beaks. In fact, toucans have the largest bill in the world compared to their body size. There are over 40 types of toucan, all of which are tropical birds native to the Caribbean, Mexico and northern South America. Their diet is mainly made up of fruit but they will also eat insects and small lizards. They live for up to 20 years and tend to only glide short distances as their wings are too small for long flights. The biggest threat to the toucan is the pet trade, followed by habitat loss.
